An 8 day live-in retreat: “Redeeming the Time”. Monty will provide input on this theme each day and be available for spiritual direction as required. Annual Faber Lecture “The Stories We Live By Beholding the World With God.” Monty will use contemporary film to highlight the challenges and opportunities facing Christians in the world of today. at Holy Spirit Church, Auchenflower, 7.30pm. Faber QLD Aug 31
The Stories We Live By: - A Day with Monty Williams - where we will examine the nature of the myths we live by. Using Erikson’s psycho-social constructs of personal development he will show how the perspective from which we appropriate our spirituality (our myths) is shaped by our interactions with our context, and then will use the weeks of the Exercises to show how spiritual development can occur by allowing Christ to enter those myths. Narrative Strategies in the Exercises - A Day with Monty Williams - Together we will look at the way the separate weeks of the Exercises deconstruct and then recontstruct the stories of our lives to bring us to a position of being living words of the Father in the world Canisius NSW 9 Sep, Campion VIC 7 Oct
Monty Williams is Professor of Spiritual Theology at Regis College, Toronto. A much published author on literature and spiritual direction, Monty is known for his innovative exploration of Ignatian spirituality and its value in helping us to understand contemporary culture. He is co-author of “Finding God in the Dark: Taking the Spiritual Exercises of St Ignatius to the Movies” .
