Facilities

Our Centre is located within the extensive grounds of Canisius College on Sydney’s leafy North Shore, 30 mins from Sydney’s CBD by public transport, 45 mins from Sydney Airport. We offer 15 well appointed retreat bedrooms, separate bathroom amenities, a conference hall and small meeting rooms.

Canisius Team Members

Ruth Morgan (Director) is an experienced giver of the Spiritual Exercises and facilitator of faith-related group/individual formation programs. She is Chairperson of Companions in the Ministry of Ignatian Spiritual Exercises and Council member of Australian Ecumenical Council for Spiritual Direction.

Des Purcell SJ has given retreats and direction for most of his priestly life and is particularly interested in the Spiritual Exercises as a way of living the Christian life and being companions and co-workers with God in encouraging others on the journey. Des enjoys adapting the Exercises to the person in their particular circumstances.

Joseph Sobb SJ is a graduate of Cambridge University and is part of the Tertianship program at Canisius. He has taught biblical studies at various universities for many years and enjoys his ongoing parish involvement.

Guy Yeomans completed the Residential Associate Program in spiritual direction at the Jesuit Center for Spiritual Growth at Wernersville, Penns. He is married to Sandra and is also part-time pastor of a small Baptist Church at St Ives and recently completed his Master’s degree in Christian Spirituality.
