“Ignatian Wisdom for a Post-modern World” with Margaret Silf

Mon 21 - Fri 25 Jan (Campion, VIC)
Margaret Silf and Arrupe Team

In our post-modern world many people are searching deeply for ways of living true to the person they long to be. People seek wiser choices and authentic answers to life’s questions. They discover that there is more to life than success, security and surface satisfaction. Ignatian Spirituality contributes to this global soul-searching. How can we communicate fresh ways for people who are struggling to find their way through the dislocations, uncertainties and transitions that our 21st century world is facing? (Suggested donation $750 live-in, $595 live-out).

God’s Unfinished Story - A Day with Margaret Silf

Sun 3 Feb (Campion, VIC)
Thu 28 Feb (Loyola, SA)
Margaret Silf

We are part of an unfolding story that begins, for our universe, billions of years ago, and it is constantly drawing us towards ‘life in all its fullness’. How is this story of our ‘becoming human’ revealing itself, and what does the Incarnation mean for us in this vast context? How might we embrace the challenge and the joy of this great vision being? An opportunity to reflect on our human journey, both individual and collective, ‘from a speck of stardust to a spark of God.’ (Suggested Donation $85).

What is Freedom? What is Truth? with Margaret Silf

Sat 9 - Sun 10 Feb (Canisius, NSW)
Margaret Silf and Ruth Morgan

Wherever God is in all my lived experience, God is in the place where I really am, and not at any false reference points that so often dictate my choices and decisions. What does the concept of ‘freedom’ mean for us and can we hope to attain it? How do we live true to God’s dream for us, and can that ‘truth’ really set us free? Observing our actions and reactions and reflecting on whether they have their source in our truth or in one of our many falsehoods offers us a more realistic and life-giving basis for making choices and decisions. (Suggested donation $170 - non-residential).

Tending the Sacred Fire - Sexuality and Spirituality

Sat 16th February 10am to 3pm (Campion, VIC)
MaryAnn Scofield and Sandra Lommasson

“The sexual and spiritual parts of the human personality lie so close together that we cannot arouse one without arousing the other.”
Scott Peck.

The sacred fire ‘Eros’ is at the core of the human person.Sexual and spiritual energies are powerfully inter-related and are given for life. Either one in exile from the other creates distortion and imbalance. The embodied, desiring self draws toward intimacy, mutuality and generative life, and the urge toward wholeness. Reverent, wakeful tending of these energies is a necessary antidote to naiveté about the power and nature of erotic and creative energy as well as to a reflexive fear that seeks to repress the pulse of life itself. In our time together we will explore ways of regarding and holding these vital energies within ourselves as directors as well as within the spiritual direction relationship.
Suggested Donation $50 including lunch)
